Office of Consumer Recovery and Supports (OCRS)
The Office of Consumer Recovery and Supports is the gatekeeper of recovery resources and supports for ODMH. Our vision is for consumers to experience a world in which their hopes are achieved, their choices are honored and their differences are valued. They will feel respected and safe, living and working in the community and having a satisfying life.
Our purpose
To collaborate with consumers, families, boards, agencies, statewide advocacy groups, state and national organizations and other Ohio Department of Mental Health (ODMH) offices to:
- Spread the word that recovery is possible for everyone
- Promote culturally competent services throughout the mental health system
- Assist with access to quality mental health services for all Ohioans
- Develop networks to bring together those who share a common interest or expertise in various mental health services
- Increase consumer and family participation in local and state committees working on mental health issues
- Help local communities ensure every consumer has a safe home of their choice
- Help local communities ensure every consumer who want to work gets the opportunity to work
- Establish outreach programs to homeless mentally ill consumers
- Evaluate the mental health block grant application
- Use consumer voices to promote continuous quality improvement of mental health services
- Advocate for consumer and family oriented mental health care
- Do outreach to consumer groups
- Promote assertive community treatment (ACT) as a consumer-directed evidence-based practice

ODMH Toll-Free Bridge
Toll-free bridge representatives provide information and referrals to mental health services and organizations statewide while serving as a single point of entry to ODMH for consumer and family complaints, grievances and appeals.

ODMH Consumer and Family Partnership Team
The Consumer and Family Partnership Team advocates for increased and strengthened consumer and family representation on ODMH committees and workgroups.
Ohio Community Support Planning Council
The Ohio Community Support Planning Council works to enhance the recovery process and to improve the quality of life of people with mental illness in Ohio. Members also evaluate the mental health block grant application.
Scholarship and Technical Assistance Funds
Scholarship and technical assistance funds are available to eligible consumer and family members to attend workshops, conferences or to participate in educational trainings. Mental Health America of Franklin County manages these funds statewide for ODMH.
