The design and condition of psychiatric facilities and community housing for people with mental illness play a role in facilitating recovery and reducing stigma. The Capital Planning and Management Office oversees and manages the building of and improvements to the regional psychiatric hospitals operated by the Ohio Department of Mental Health (ODMH). ODMH is committed to providing therapeutically appropriate treatment environments in its hospitals. Our goal is to provide patient care environments with ample space for services that enhance recovery, as well as patient living areas that afford dignity, privacy and safety. The office also assists in the development of housing, program and consumer-operated services projects in the community, again with a focus on facilitating recovery and reducing stigma.
