Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) Continuum

For Agencies Promoting Evidence-Based Practices

Phase I

  • Selects at least one EBP based on priority population needs
  • Demonstrates understanding of the EBP and how it differs from other practices
  • Consults with experts (i.e. CCOEs, others) to implement EBP
  • Collects data on EBP impact for people receiving services

Phase II

  • Ensures that EBP data are closely monitored by key clinical and administrative leadership
  • Fully implements the EBP and uses fidelity measures to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Collects EBP client-level outcome data systematically and routinely makes it available to clinicians/practitioners

Phase III

  • Tracks impact of EBP at client, practitioner, supervisory and senior leadership levels
  • Integrates EBP and its outcome and fidelity data into the agency's formal PI process
  • Has developed strategy to sustain the EBP over time
