Office of Clinical Best Practices

The mission of the Office of Clinical Best Practices is to initiate, coordinate, facilitate and manage efforts to promote recovery and resiliency through the accelerated adoption of best mental health practices. Under the direction of the Ohio Department of Mental Health (ODMH) Medical Director, the office seeks to improve clinical quality through collaborative leadership of state-affiliated Coordinating Centers of Excellence, University-based Residency and Training Programs and special initiatives such as the Tobacco Dependence Project. To date, 49 of 50 board areas in Ohio have adopted at least one CCOE-supported clinical best practice, with over 8,000 individuals trained by CCOEs annually. Residency and Training Programs sponsored by ODMH provide training to more than 500 graduate students and residents annually. In addition, the office collaborates with affiliates at the local, state and national levels to assist in the transformation of mental health services through the use of clinical best practices.
