The Ohio Department of Mental Health (ODMH) administers the federal Community Mental Health Services Block Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. This grant is used to provide funding to ADAMH/CMH (Alcohol Drug Abuse and Mental Health/Community Mental Health) Boards for mental health services that are not reimbursed by Medicaid, as well as mental health services for low income persons without Medicaid.
Block Grant is also used for statewide system improvement activities. Activities funded include Coordinating Centers of Excellence (CCOEs), technical assistance and training, and program evaluation. Block Grant funding is used to support statewide consumer and family advocacy groups, educational programs and participation in planning mental health services.
