This presentation describes what consumers have a right to expect and what professional practice requires in the treatment/recovery process. It also summarizes how clinicians and consumers can partner to approach treatment/recovery planning. A four-step process for treatment/recovery planning is outlined, including getting a full picture of the consumer's life, gaining a common understanding of the consumer's status on the outcomes measures and in the recovery process and developing a recovery plan that blends the perspectives of both consumer and clinician. The presentation concludes with a case example.
